Kindergarten Class

Madisonville Elementary will begin registering children for pre-kindergarten and kindergarten. The registration will be held from 9am until 2pm each day through the remainder of the year. To be eligible for pre-kindergarten a child must be 4 years old on or before September 1, and meet certain income requirements, or come from a family whose language is not English. Wednesday, May 14

The Texas Agri-life extension service in Leon County will host a college and Career day from 10am to 2pm. All parents of high school junior and seniors are encouraged to attend. This event will be taking place at the Jewett Civic Center. There will be different tables set up with different university and career representatives. If you have any questions call 903-536-2531.


Thursday, May 15

Normangee ISD will conduct its spring band concert and awards banquet, beginning at 6pm. The concert will take place in the panther gym, and will be followed by the banquet at the NISD cafeteria. Admission to the band concert is free, while banquet tickets will be $6 per person. Band members will be admitted to the banquet for free.


Saturday, May 17

The Elwood Baptist Church will be having their homecoming starting at 10:30am. Memory Makers and Mike Stockman will be performing. There will be a lunch provided, but please bring deserts!

The Family-oriented variety program “an evening with sorin” will take place at 7pm at the Truman kimbro center in Madisonville. Admission is free, as are the snacks and beverages available during intermission. For more information call J.D Mallard at 936-395-8883.

The Hilltop Lakes Lions Club will sponsor a blood drive from 9:30am to 2pm at the Tejas Room. To schedule an appointment, call Nancy Ryan 396-1484.


Saturday, May 24

An open show rodeo conducted by Glover Rodeo and sponsored by Henson Family Dealership will be at the Madisonville Sidewalk Cattlemen’s association Arena. Event begins at 11:30am and the main rodeo is at 7:30pm. For more information call 832-443-7598.
